OpenAI has begun rolling out ChatGPT Wrapped, a year end review feature officially called “Your Year with ChatGPT”, offering users a personalized summary of how they interacted with the AI chatbot over the past year.
According to details shared with TechCrunch, the feature is currently available to eligible users in select markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. It mirrors the familiar format popularized by Spotify Wrapped, presenting usage insights through visuals, light personalization, and short creative elements.
At launch, ChatGPT Wrapped is available to users on the Free, Plus, and Pro plans. However, eligibility depends on whether users have enabled both “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history,” along with meeting a minimum activity threshold over the year. OpenAI confirmed that Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts are excluded from the rollout.
How ChatGPT Wrapped works
The ChatGPT Wrapped experience highlights how individuals used the chatbot across different contexts during the year. Instead of focusing on raw statistics, the review assigns themed “awards” based on usage patterns. For example, users who frequently worked through problems or refined ideas may receive a title such as “Creative Debugger.”
In addition to awards, the feature generates a short poem and an AI created image reflecting the user’s interests and recurring topics. OpenAI described the experience as lightweight, privacy forward, and fully user controlled. The recap does not open automatically and is not forced on users.
The company said the feature will be promoted on the ChatGPT app home screen, but users can also manually trigger it by asking ChatGPT for “Your Year with ChatGPT.” Access is supported on the web version of ChatGPT as well as the iOS and Android mobile apps.
OpenAI emphasized that the feature relies only on data users have already agreed to share through chat history and memory settings. Users who prefer not to participate can simply leave those settings disabled.
The launch of ChatGPT Wrapped reflects a broader trend among consumer apps using year end summaries to deepen engagement. For OpenAI, it also highlights how ChatGPT has become a daily tool for a wide range of activities, from creative writing and learning to debugging and planning.
As OpenAI continues expanding ChatGPT’s capabilities, including broader content support in the coming year, the company hinted that future editions of ChatGPT Wrapped could evolve alongside how users interact with the platform.
