A sudden, massive price drop for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop this week was not a planned promotion. CD Projekt Red has confirmed the deep discount that briefly appeared in the Americas was submitted incorrectly and later corrected, while purchases made during the short window will remain valid.
The pricing surprise started on December 22, 2025, when players noticed Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition showing 75% off on the Switch 2 eShop in the US, bringing the price down to about $17.49 from the usual $69.99. It quickly spread across social media and deal trackers, with many assuming it had to be a store glitch due to how steep the cut was for a high profile release.
The confusion grew because an official Nintendo holiday sale press release also listed Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition at 75% off for Switch 2, which made the deal look official rather than accidental.
What happened
CD Projekt Red later clarified that the discounts displayed for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition on the Switch 2 eShop in the Americas on December 22, 2025 were incorrect and resulted from an internal submission error.
The company said it has fixed the issue and applied the intended discounts. Importantly for buyers who rushed to grab the bargain, CD Projekt Red added that “Purchases made at the previous discount rate are unaffected by this change.”
Some reporting also pointed out that the discount percentages appeared to be swapped between the two titles during the mistake, which helps explain why Cyberpunk 2077 ended up with such a steep cut.
Pricing after the fix
After the correction, Nintendo Life reported updated sale pricing in the Americas, including:
| Game | Earlier displayed discount | Price seen during error | Updated discount after fix | Current sale price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (Switch 2) | 75% | $17.49 | 42% | $39.99 |
| The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition (Switch) | Mixed during error | (varied) | 75% | $14.99 |
For context, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition bundles the base game with the Phantom Liberty expansion, which made the brief $17.49 pricing even more eye catching for Switch 2 owners.
