Reddit faced another wave of disruptions on December 9, 2025, marking the second consecutive day that users struggled to access the platform. According to Downdetector data, Reddit saw 538 new outage reports, highlighting widespread trouble across its web platform and servers. The recurring disruption raised concerns among global users and added to the platform’s recent history of technical instability.
A large portion of complaints indicated that Reddit’s main website was the biggest pain point, while others struggled with server responses and profile-related issues.
Reddit outage reports surge for the second day
Most of the December 9 reports tracked by Downdetector showed that 66 percent of users could not access Reddit’s website, 33 percent faced server issues, and 1 percent encountered trouble with personal profiles. The focus keyword Reddit appears naturally here because the outage directly affects the platform’s core functionality.
The latest incident followed an earlier disruption on December 8, when over 250 complaints were logged. During that outage, 48 percent of users experienced website issues, 42 percent reported problems with the Reddit mobile app, and 10 percent struggled with server connectivity.
Reddit has not yet issued an official explanation for the continuing disruptions, adding to user frustration.
Repeated Reddit outages add pressure as global platforms face instability
These two back-to-back outages add to a longer pattern of technical problems for Reddit. Similar disruptions were reported in November, when more than 20,000 users worldwide logged issues with login attempts, partially loaded pages, broken media, and inaccessible subreddits.
Over 500 reports came from India, showing that the outage extended across multiple regions.
The latest Reddit downtime also occurred shortly after two major technology failures:
- A significant AWS outage disrupted several global apps, including Reddit
- A separate Microsoft Azure outage added to the growing list of service interruptions affecting major platforms
The repeated issues have raised questions about infrastructure stability and increasing dependency on cloud service providers.
As of now, Reddit has not confirmed whether the current disruption is linked to external cloud outages or internal technical faults.
Conclusion
The prolonged disruptions have left Reddit users searching for answers as outages continue across multiple days. With website access, app performance, and server reliability all affected, Reddit will likely face growing pressure to explain the root cause and reinforce its service stability.
For now, millions of users remain cautious as technical problems persist and no official statement has been released.
